Notes

"Monnie" attended Ursuline Convent, Galveston, TX, when about 14 years
old. Married age 17. Reported by AWS to be a great cook and had a figure
to show it. Buried in Houston off of Gulf Freeway. Made a great
"divinity" candy, per VSL. Could hear the sound of her favorite dishes
cooking and have someone else turn the stove off. Once she went deaf,
she couldn't cook.
Attended Holy Rosary Church on Milam St. in Houston.
Audrey recalls that Monnie was raised on a plantation, probably in
Louisiana. (This latter clause appears incorrect, in view of the facts
since uncovered about her place of birth and family conditions.) (Last
